A Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-FOV performing flight FR-2694 from Lisbon to Porto (Portugal), was climbing through FL180 out of Lisbon when the crew declared emergency and performed a rapid descent to FL100 reporting the loss of cabin pressure. Lisbon Approach at the same sent all other arriving aircraft into holds. The Boeing landed safely on Lisbon's runway 21 about 30 minutes after departure.

Passengers reported there was a sudden loss of cabin pressure, the passenger oxygen masks were released and a burning odour developed on board (editorial note: most likely produced by the oxygen generators used to produce oxygen for the passenger oxygen masks).

The airport reported the aircraft returned as a safety precaution for some technical reason.

The airline confirmed a depressurization shortly after departure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Lisbon 54 hours after landing back.
