A Comair Boeing 737-400, registration ZS-OAV performing flight MN-233/BA-6233 from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth (South Africa), was climbing out Johannesburg's runway 03L when the crew requested to stop the climb at FL090 advising they had a bird strike on departure just after rotation, a rather large bird, a duck or a goose, had impacted their nose, there was probably debris on the runway and they probably needed to return to Johannesburg. The aircraft levelled off at FL090 and returned to Johannesburg for a safe landing on runway 03R about 20 minutes after departure.
