An Allegiant Air Airbus A319-100, registration N327NV performing flight G4-7007 from Cancun (Mexico) to Cincinnati,KY (USA), was about to depart from Cancun's runway 12R when the crew reported the loss of nose wheel steering.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration N215NV reached Cincinnati's Northern Kentucky Airport with a delay of about 6 hours.

Mexico's AIB reported the aircraft lost nose wheel steering, rated the occurrence a serious incident and opened an investigation.

A ground observer reported the aircraft was at the holding point runway 12R, number one for departure with several other aircraft already in the queue for departure, when the crew notified ATC they were unable to taxi. About 30 minutes later the aircraft was towed from its position onto and down runway 12R and back to the apron. The ground observer did not observe the aircraft enter the runway on own power.
