An Indigo Airbus A320-200, registration VT-IEI performing flight 6E-1707 from Chennai (India) to Doha (Qatar) with 134 passengers and 7 crew, departed Chennai's runway 25 when a bird struck the aircraft near the left hand engine (V2527) prompting the crew to stop the climb at FL100 and return to Chennai for a safe landing on runway 25 about 15 minutes after departure.

A replacement A320-200 registration VT-IAN reached Doha with a delay of 3:45 hours.

The occurrence aircraft, that had received damage to a landing light and the leading edge of the wing, returned to service after about 19 hours on the ground.
