A Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N539US performing flight DL-1795 from Atlanta,GA to Salt Lake City,UT (USA), was on approach to Salt Lake City's runway 34R when an engine (PW2037) ingested a bird, briefly stalled and recovered. Bird strike related odour developed on board. The aircraft continued to runway 34R for a safe landing. Other aircraft reported seeing a flock of birds around 4800 feet MSL (approximately 500 feet AGL).

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 14 hours then returned to service.
