A Philippines AirAsia Airbus A320-200, registration RP-C8986 performing flight Z2-320 from Manila to Tacloban (Philippines) with 164 passengers and 6 crew, had safely landed in Tacloban at about 08:00L (00:00Z) and was about to taxi to the apron (requiring backtracking of the runway) when the nose gear steering failed causing the aircraft to become disabled on the runway.

The runway was closed for about 3 hours as result of the occurrence.
