A Tassili Airlines de Havilland Dash 8-200, registration 7T-VCR performing flight SF-2210 from Algiers to Tlemcen (Algeria) with 25 people on board, was enroute near Oran (Algeria) when the crew detected they had lost their ability to communicate via their radios, but set the transponder code to the code for unlawful interference instead of loss of radio communication. The aircraft diverted to Oran where the aircraft landed safely and was immediately surrounded by security forces. The crew needed several minutes to explain that there had been no unlawful interference, before the passengers were permitted to disembark the aircraft.

Emergency services reported there was a technical error involving a wrong code that prompted the security response.

The passengers were taken to hotels over night and rebooked onto another flight the following day.
