A Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration C-GGNW performing flight QK-8637 from Halifax,NS to Ottawa,ON (Canada) with 82 people on board, was climbing through about 15,000 feet out of Halifax when a crew member noticed unusual noise from the rear of the aircraft. The flight crew monitored the rate of climb of cabin altitude and found it was in excess of a normal climb rate. The crew consulted with maintenance attempting to rectify the problem and decided to return to Halifax where the aircraft landed safely.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance discovered the aft cargo door seal was damaged. The seal was replaced.
