A THY Turkish Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration TC-JRO performing flight TK-1937 from Istanbul (Turkey) to Brussels (Belgium), was in the initial climb out of Istanbul's runway 35R when the aircraft flew through a flock of birds and received a number of bird strikes prompting the crew to stop the climb at 4000 feet and return to Istanbul for a safe landing on runway 35L about 17 minutes after departure.

A replacement A321-200 registration TC-JSM reached Brussels with a delay of 2:15 hours.

The airline reported an engine (V2533) inspection revealed damage as result of bird strikes.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 14 hours after landing back.
