An ANA All Nippon Airways Boeing 737-500, registration JA303K performing flight NH-435 from Nagoya to Fukuoka (Japan) with 126 passengers and 5 crew, was in the initial climb out of Nagoya when the crew reported a burning odour in the cabin, stopped the climb at about 5000 feet and returned to Nagoya for a safe landing about 12 minutes after departure.

The airline reported flight crew and cabin crew detected a burning odour that originated from the air conditioning system. There were no injuries.

Passengers reported the smell was similiar to smell of oil.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration JA76AN reached Fukuoka with a delay of 4.5 hours.
