A Saratov Airlines Antonov AN-148, registration RA-61706 performing flight 6W-5837 from Kirov (Russia) to Simferopol (Ukraine) with 72 people on board, was climbing out of Kirov when the crew stopped the climb at FL170 due to a problem with one of the engine (D-436) indication. The crew initially turned to return to Kirov but then decided to divert to Saratov (Russia) where the aircraft landed safely about 2 hours after departure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Saratov about 18 hours after landing.

The status of Crimea and Simferopol is disputed. According to international law and United Nations the Crimea belong to the Ukraine although Russia annexed Crimea in 2014.
