A China Eastern Boeing 777-300, registration B-2022 performing flight MU-207 from Shanghai Pudong (China) to Toronto,ON (Canada), was enroute at FL310 across the Pacific but did not step climb. The crew decided to divert to Anchorage,AK (USA) due to too high an engine oil consumption, but did not declare emergency or request priority. The aircraft landed safely in Anchorage, no emergency services on stand by, and taxied to the apron.

A replacement Boeing 777-300 registration B-7881 positioned from Shanghai to Anchorage as flight MU-200, continued the flight to Toronto departing Anchorage about 15 hours after B-2022 had landed and reached Toronto with a total delay of 14 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 30.5 hours, then positioned back to Shanghai as flight MU-700.
