A passenger reported the crew explained the avionics compartment door didn't close properly causing the cabin to not properly pressurize. After landing back the passengers disembarked on a remote stand and were bussed to the terminal. About 3 hours later they were taken to the aircraft again and departed this time making it to New York.
The occurrence aircraft reached New York with a total delay of 3:40 hours.
