An El Al Boeing 737-900, registration 4X-EHC performing flight LY-354 from Munich (Germany) to Tel Aviv (Israel) with 170 people on board, was enroute at FL330 about 10nm north of Zagreb (Croatia) when the crew decided to divert to Zagreb reporting a burning odour in the aft cabin. Cabin crew identified an oven in the aft galley preparing food as source of the odour and secured the oven. The aircraft landed safely on Zagreb's runway 05 about 18 minutes after leaving FL330. Emergency services did not need to intervene.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Zagreb for about 8.5 hours, then continued the journey and reached Tel Aviv with a delay of 9 hours.
