An Avianca Airbus A319-100, registration N741AV performing flight AV-110 from Montevideo (Uruguay) to Bogota (Colombia), was climbing out of Montevideo's runway 24 when the aircraft flew through a flock of sea gulls and received a number of bird strikes prompting the crew to stop the climb at 4000 feet and to enter a hold to burn off fuel. The aircraft returned to Montevideo for a safe landing about 50 minutes after departure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Montevideo about 58 hours after landing back.
