A British Airways Airbus A320-200, registration G-EUUZ performing flight BA-987 from Berlin Tegel (Germany) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was climbing out of Tegel's runway 26L when the crew stopped the climb at FL090 reporting a hydraulic failure. The aircraft returned to Berlin for a safe landing on Tegel's runway 26R about 40 minutes after departure.

A passenger reported the captain announced a hydraulic failure, they would return to Berlin about 10 minutes after departure. The flight was cancelled, the passenger was rebooked onto another flight the following day. At that time the occurrence aircraft was still on the ground for maintenance.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Berlin for about 44 hours, then positioned to London and remained on the ground for another 14 hours before returning to service.
