A Jetstar Airbus A320-200, registration VH-VGU performing flight JQ-117 from Denpasar (Indonesia) to Perth,WA (Australia) with 181 people on board, was descending towards Perth when the crew aborted the approach and entered a hold reporting they had a brakes failure indication. After working the related checklists the aircraft the crew advised they were ready for the approach and would stop on the runway. The crew requested runway 21, runway 21 however was closed due to work in progress, tower indicated that the runway could be cleared of all the sandbags, however the crosses indicating the runway closure, 40 meters large, 400kg heavy, 3mm thick, would still remain on the runway. When the crew queried, tower reported that all crossed would be removed except for the first one before the runway threshold (which would be anchored with sand bags). The aircraft continued in the holding waiting for the runway becoming available and landed safely on runway 21 about 25 minutes later. During roll out the crew indicated they were able to vacate the runway via taxiway C6, the aircraft taxied to the apron.

The airline confirmed the crew received an abnormal brakes indication, however, there were no issues with the brakes during landing. Engineers are investigating what caused the faulty brakes indication.
