A KLM Boeing 737-800, registration PH-BGA performing flight KL-1385 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Kiev (Ukraine), had just levelled off at FL330 about 20nm south of Hanover (Germany) when the crew decided to return to Amsterdam. The aircraft landed safely back on Amsterdam's runway 18C with the crew maintaining routine communication.

A passenger reported the crew indicated an engine (CFM56) problem.

A replacement Boeing 737-800, registration PH-BXK reached Kiev with a delay of 3 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground 12 hours after landing.
