An Expressjet Canadair CRJ-900 on behalf of Delta Airlines, registration N181PQ performing flight EV-5009/DL-5009 from Monterrey (Mexico) to Atlanta,GA (USA), was climbing out of Monterrey when the crew stopped the climb at about FL210 due to a malfunctioning air conditioning system causing vrey hot temperatures on board. The aircraft diverted to Corpus Christi,TX (USA) for a safe landing.

The airport reported two passengers needed medical assistance to get cooled down in an air conditioned ambulance. The aircraft was being repaired and was expected to continue the flight.

Climbing out of Corpus Christi after about two hours on the ground the crew needed again to stop the climb at about FL200 and diverted to Houston Intercontinental,TX.

The airline reported the aircraft had departed Corpus Christi for Atlanta but needed to divert to Houston due to air traffic control delays in Atlanta.
