A TUI Airlines Nederland Boeing 787-800, registration PH-TFM performing flight OR-393 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Sint Maarten (Sint Maarten), was in the initial climb out of Amsterdam when the crew received an abnormal indication for the slats without pilot input. The crew levelled off at FL100 and entered a hold while working the checklists and consulting with maintenance. The crew decided to return to Amsterdam without trying to further retract or extend the slats/flaps. The aircraft dumped fuel and landed safely back on Amsterdam's runway 18R at a higher than normal speed (185 knots over ground) about 55 minutes after departure.

Following maintenance the aircraft remained on the ground for 5:40 hours, then departed again and is estimated to reach Sint Maarten with a delay of about 8 hours (following a first departure with a delay of 80 minutes).
