The runway in Birmingham was closed for about 30 minutes after landing.
Belgian Defense reported that following the intercept it was not possible to reach the crew via radio, however, eye contact was established and everything appeared normal in the cockpit, a technical problem prevented communication via radio. The Saab was escorted to the FIR boundary where UK Quick Reaction Alert Aircraft took over and continued to escort the Saab.
