An American Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration N756AM performing flight AA-141 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to New York JFK,NY (USA) with 89 people on board, was enroute at FL380 about 900nm west of Shannon (Ireland) when the crew declared Mayday reporting indications of vibrations and decided to turn around. The aircraft subsequently descended to FL220 and diverted to Shannon (Ireland) for a safe landing on runway 06 about 2.5 hours after turning around. The crew reported operations normal, no further assistance was needed. The aircraft taxied to the gate, where emergency services checked the aircraft, in particular landing gear and the cargo bays.

The airline reported the aircraft diverted due to an indicator light suggesting a possible mechanical problem.

On Jun 17th 2016 the Canadian TSB reported that maintenance found the right air-pack door hinge was worn which prevented the door to close tightly with the fuselage. The door was temporarily fastened to the fuselage and the aircraft returned to service.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 20 hours then positioned back to London Heathrow.
