Finnair E190 at Hamburg on Sep 19th 2015, near collision with drone on final approach

A Finnair Embraer ERJ-190, registration OH-LKP performing flight AY-855 from Helsinki (Finland) to Hamburg (Germany) with 80 passengers and 4 crew, was on final approach to Hamburg's runway 23 descending through about 800 feet AGL when the crew reported passing a drone at same height and about 100 feet horizontally from their position. The aircraft continued for a safe landing.

On Sep 21st 2015 Hamburg's police reported the drone was flying at an altitude of about 250 meters AGL (800 feet AGL) in the area of Moorreye about 2.5nm from the runway threshold and passed the Embraer at about 30 meters horizontal distance, a search for the operator of the drone was immediately initiated but remained without success so far. Criminal Police is continuing the investigation for endangering aviation. The Police annotated, that within 1500 meters of the two Hamburg airports operation of drones is generally prohibited, outside that area operation of drones above 50 meters AGL is prohibited.

The occurrence aircraft departed for its return flight AY-856 on schedule.
