A TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A321-200, registration PT-MXD performing flight JJ-3609 from Manaus,AM to Brasilia,DF (Brazil), was climbing out of Manaus' runway 10, transponding callsign JJ-9109, when the crew stopped the climb at 3000 feet and returned to Manaus for a safe landing on runway 10 about 40 minutes after departure.

The occurrence aircraft was able to depart again after about 4 hours on the ground and reached Brasilia with a delay of 5 hours.

The airport reported flight JJ-9109 returned to Manaus due to a problem with the flaps.

The airline reported the aircraft needed to return to have the autopilot system checked.
