An American Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration N39364 performing flight AA-65 from Zurich (Switzerland) to New York JFK,NY (USA) with 201 passengers, was climbing out of Zurich when the crew stopped the climb at FL260 due to a male passenger (about 50) who showed symptoms of a heart attack/cardiac arrest and returned to Zurich for an overweight but safe landing on runway 34 about 20 minutes later with emergency services on stand by. The aircraft vacated the runway and was directed onto the nearby de-icing pad F where fire brigades checked the brakes and medical staff entered the aircraft to take care of the patient. The patient was subsequently taken to a hospital.

The aircraft was able to depart again about 140 minutes after landing and is currently estimated to reach New York with a total delay of 2.5 hours.
