A Qantas Airbus A380-800, registration VH-OQG performing flight QF-2 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Sydney,NS (Australia), was enroute at FL400 about 370nm northeast of Perth,WA (Australia) when the crew initiated an emergency descent to 9000 feet due to the loss of cabin pressure. The aircraft subsequently diverted to Perth for a safe landing on runway 21 about 90 minutes after leaving cruise level.

Passengers reported the flight crew announced "Cabin Crew, emergency descent" adding the aircraft was under full control.
