A TACV Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration D4-CBT performing flight VR-4212 from Sao Vicente to Sal (Cabo Verde) with 54 passengers and 4 crew, was in the initial climb out of Sao Vicente when the crew received a fire indication for the left hand engine (PW127), shut the engine down and discharged both fire bottles. The aircraft returned to Sao Vicente for a safe landing.

A replacement aircraft took the passengers to Sal.

The airline confirmed a fire indication for one of the engines during climb.

On Dec 3rd 2014 the French BEA reported in their weekly bulletin that the crew received a fire indication for the left hand engine shortly after takeoff while in the climb with the engine on fire, the crew shut the engine down and discharged both fire bottles. The occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigation by Cabo Verde's Accident Investigation Board.
