A Finnair Airbus A319-100, registration OH-LVD performing flight AY-557 from Helsinki to Ivalo (Finland) with 72 passengers, was climbing out of Helsinki when the crew stopped the climb at FL250 due to a lightning strike to the right hand wing and returned to Helsinki for a safe landing on runway 04R about 30 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A319-100 registration OH-LVC reached Ivalo with a delay of 90 minutes.

The incident aircraft resumed service the following day after about 18 hours on the ground.
