A Norwegian Air Shuttle Boeing 737-800, registration LN-NIF performing flight DY-165 from Trondheim to Bergen (Norway) with 104 passengers, was in the initial climb out of Trondheim's runway 09 when a swan impacted and penetrated the leading edge of the left hand wing just inboard of the left hand engine. The crew levelled off at 6500 feet and returned to Trondheim for a safe landing on runway 09 about 15 minutes after departure.

A passenger reported the crew announced a large bird, possibly an eagle, had impacted the aircraft, later the crew added airport workers had found the remains of a swan on the runway.

The flight was cancelled.
