An American Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-82, registration N7530 performing flight AA-1491 from Washington National,DC to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA) with 125 passengers and 5 crew, was climbing out of Washington's Ronald Reagan Airport when the crew stopped the climb at about FL230 due to problems with the cabin pressure and decided to divert to Washington's Dulles Airport. The aircraft burned off fuel and landed safely on Dulles' runway 01C about one hour after departure.

A replacement MD-82 reached Dallas with a delay of 3 hours.
