A DHL Aero Expreso Boeing 757-200 freighter, registration HP-1810DAE performing flight D5-222 from Panama City (Panama) to San Salvador (El Salvador), was climbing out of Panama's runway 21R when the crew declared emergency reporting a left engine (PW2037) failure. The crew shut the engine down and returned to Panama City for a safe landing on runway 03L about 30 minutes after departure.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Panama City about 8.5 hours after landing back.
