A SAS Scandinavian Airlines Canadair CRJ-900, registration EI-FPN performing flight SK-609 from Copenhagen (Denmark) to Zurich (Switzerland), was climbing out of Copenhagen's runway 22R when the aircraft received a lightning strike. The crew stopped the climb at FL160 and decided to return to Copenhagen, burned off fuel and landed safely back on Copenhagen's runway 22L about 85 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

Copenhagen Airport reported the aircraft returned due to a lightning strike.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Copenhagen about 22 hours after landing back.
