A Smartwings Poland Boeing 737-800, registration SP-TVZ performing flight 3Z-7304 from Warsaw (Poland) to Fuerteventura,CI (Spain), was climbing out of Warsaw when the crew stopped the climb at about FL310 and decided to divert to Prague (Czech Republic) due to a problem with the airspeed indications. The aircraft descended to FL280 and subsequently landed on Prague's runway 24 about one hour after departure.

A replacement Smartwings Boeing 737-800, registration OK-TSF reached Fuerteventura with a delay of about 3.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 39 hours after landing in Prague.

A passenger reported that the captain announced a problem with the speed sensors, Prague was within 10 minutes in daytime flight. In the passenger's opinion the plane flew faster and slower for the first hour, and as if the pilot was trying to "stabilize the flight". The landing took place at very high speed.

Czechia's UZPLN reported: "The right FO airspeed and altitude indicators where found faulty after comparing both main sources and the standby indicator. When passing FL096 on descend the right airspeed indicator unblocked and indicated correct values again until touchdown." The UZPLN is cooperating with Smartwings Poland to investigate this occurrence.
