A Copa Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration HP-1522CMP performing flight CM-159 from Panama City (Panama) to Quito (Ecuador) with 153 passengers and 6 crew, landed on Quito's runway 35 in heavy rain at about 19:00L (00:00Z Nov 30th) but overran the end of the runway and came to a stop with the main gear still on the paved surface of the runway end safety area and the nose gear about 3 meters off paved surface. No injuries occurred, the aircraft received minor if any damage. The passengers disembarked onto the runway via mobile stairs.

Ecuador's Direccion General de Aviacion Civil reported the runway was closed for about one hour as result of the overrun.
