An Air Transat Airbus A321-200, registration C-GEZX performing flight TS-90 from Lake City Gateway,FL (USA) to Montreal,QC (Canada) with 3 crew, was climbing through FL270 when the crew noticed a low oil quantity indication for the left hand engine (CFM56) and levelled off to work the related checklists. The crew declared PAN PAN, decided to return to Lake City Gateway and kept the left hand engine at idle until after landing. After safe landing the left engine was shut down. Emergency services inspected the aircraft and reported oil leaking from the left hand engine.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance found the gearbox turning tool access cover to be loose and leaking oil.

The aircraft, that had just been acquired by Air Transat, was able to position to Montreal the following day and is estimated to enter service on Dec 1st 2019.
