A United Boeing 787-9, registration N35953 performing flight UA-968 (dep Oct 6th) from San Francisco,CA (USA) to Amsterdam (Netherlands) with 217 people on board, was enroute at FL390 about 10nm west of Wabush,NL (Canada) when the crew initiated an emergency descent to 10,000 feet due to the loss of cabin pressure. The aircraft diverted to Bangor,ME (USA) about 490nm south of their location and landed safely about 2:10 hours after leaving FL390.

The Canadian TSB reported the crew noticed the cabin pressure was decreasing, the right hand DC bus had failed along with the right hand air conditioning system. Subsequently the left hand pack failed, too. The crew declared emergency, descended and diverted to Bangor.
