A Tara Air de Havilland DHC-6-300 Twin Otter, registration 9N-ABM performing a flight from Simikot to Surkhet (Nepal) with 13 passengers and 3 crew, was accelerating for takeoff from Simikot's runway 28 at about 09:00L (03:15Z) when the aircraft went off the runway and came to stop on soft ground. The aircraft was substantially damaged, 5 occupants received serious, 11 minor injuries.

The aircraft was carrying 13 policemen who had assisted an election, 2 flight crew and a flight attendant.

Local Police reported the aircraft blew a nose tyre at about the mid point of the runway and went off the runway. The injured were airlifted to the Humla district hospital.
