A passenger reported the flight's departure had been delayed by about 2.5 hours due to thunderstorms in Orlando. On approach to Chicago the aircraft discontinued the descent, the captain announced they could not extend the flaps and needed to run through a couple of procedures. About 45 minutes later the captain announced they were now ready for the landing, they would be a bit fast and emergency services would be on hand to ensure everything was okay. The landing was "very fast and intense", several passengers took the brace position although no such instruction had been issued. The passenger wrote: "We stopped quite a bit down the runway and there were no injuries. O'Hare was lit up with emergency vehicles. Fire trucks reached us soon after landing and fire crews immediately approached the plane. After inspection, we taxied to our gate with several emergency vehicles as escort and deplaned otherwise as normal. The crew was incredibly calm and reassuring throughout the event."
