A British Airways Boeing 777-200, registration G-YMMP performing flight BA-143 (dep Mar 18th) from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Delhi (India), was nearing the top of descent into Delhi when smoke emanated from the aft galley prompting the crew to declare emergency while cabin crew worked the related procedures to shut the galley down, the smoke dissipated. The aircraft landed safely on Delhi's runway 10.

The airline reported their highly trained cabin crew dealt with burnt food in an onboard oven and reassured the customers that there was no danger.

The aircraft was able to depart for the return flight with a delay of one hour.
