A United Boeing 737-800, registration N35236 performing flight UA-1035 from Houston Intercontinental,TX (USA) to Quito (Ecuador), was climbing out of Houston when the crew heard sounds from the cargo bays that triggered the suspicion of somebody being trapped in the cargo hold. The flight crew stopped the climb at FL240 and returned to Houston for a safe landing.

Nobody was found in the cargo bays, the airline reported there was a maintenance issue only.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration N73276 reached Quito with a delay of 4 hours.
