An Iran Air Airbus A320-200, registration EP-IEE performing flight IR-3417 from Tehran Imam Khomeini (Iran) to Najaf (Iraq), was climbing out of Tehran when the crew stopped the climb at FL150 due to an engine (CFM56) problem and returned to Imam Khomeini Airport for a safe landing about 25 minutes after departure.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 2 hours, then positioned to Tehran Mehrabad Airport and remained on the ground there for the rest of the day. The aircraft resumed service the following morning about 18.5 hours after landing back at Imam Khomeini Airport.
