A Tigerair Airbus A320-200, registration 9V-TAS performing flight TR-2905 from Macau (Macau) to Singapore (Singapore) with 172 people on board, was climbing out of Macau when the crew stopped the climb at FL180 when the left hand engine (V2527) shook violently emitting sparks and causing problems with the cabin pressure. The aircraft descended to FL110, the crew shut the engine down, burned off fuel and returned to Macau for a safe landing 100 minutes after departure.

The airline reported the aircraft returned to Macau due to an engine issue which also affected cabin pressurization.

A replacement A320-200 registration 9V-TRK departed the following day and reached Singapore with a delay of 16 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Macau about 60 hours after landing back.
