A UTAir Boeing 737-800, registration VQ-BQQ performing flight UT-572 from Krasnojarsk to Moscow Vnukovo (Russia), was on approach to Vnukovo's runway 06 when the crew stopped the descent at about 1000 meters after receiving an asymmetric flaps indication. The aircraft climbed to 1200 meters and entered a hold while the crew worked the related checklists, then performed a safe landing on runway 06 at a higher than normal speed (168 knots over ground) about 25 minutes after aborting the first approach.

The occurrence aircraft resumed service about 36 hours after landing.
