An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N971NN performing flight AA-952 from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX to Newark,NJ (USA), was on final approach to Newark's runway 04R when a bird impacted the aircraft's vertical tail and rudder. The aircraft continued for a safe landing.

The FAA reported the aircraft sustained unknown damage when a bird impacted vertical tail and rudder on final approach to Newark.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for 24 hours, then positioned to Tulsa,OK (USA) but did not yet resume service 54 hours after landing.
