A Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration HZ-AK33 performing flight SV-588 from Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), was descending towards Dubai when the crew reported smoke in the cabin due to an overheated galley oven. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Dubai's runway 30L about 10 minutes later. Emergency services did not need to intervene.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about two hours, then departed for the return flight SV-589 with a delay of about 30 minutes.
