An Air Transat Boeing 737-800, registration C-GTQG performing flight TS-986 from Montreal,QC to Quebec,QC (Canada) with 94 passengers and 6 crew, was climbing through 17,000 feet out of Montreal when the right hand engine (CFM56) failed. The crew stopped the climb at FL190, shut the engine down and returned to Montreal where the aircraft landed safely on runway 06 about 35 minutes after departure.

The Canadian TSB reported the inspection of the engine revealed damage to the compressor section, the engine is going to be sent to the engine manufacturer.
