A Commutair de Havilland Dash 8-200 on behalf of United, registration N375PH performing flight C5-4968/UA-4968 from Buffalo,NY to Washington Dulles,DC (USA) with 40 people on board, was climbing out of Buffalo's runway 05 when the crew reported an engine (PW123) failure and stopped the climb at 2000 feet. The crew shut the right hand engine down, positioned on a downwind for runway 05 and landed safely back about 15 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.
