An Air France Airbus A330-200, registration F-GZCI performing flight AF-524 from Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) to Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), was enroute in contact with Niamey Area Control Center (Niger) when the crew reported there had been an uncommanded thrust reduction in one of the engines (CF6), they were unable to command the engine thrust anymore, movements of the throttle remained without effect. The aircraft descended to FL240 and continued for a safe landing on Ouagadougou's runway 22.

The occurrence aircraft was unable to continue for its next sector to Abidjan (Cote d'Ivoire), last sector of the flight was planned from Abidjan back to Paris.

The aircraft remained on the ground for 27 hours, skipped the sector to Abidjan and returned to Paris directly reaching Paris with a delay of 20.5 hours. The aircraft remained on the ground in Paris for about 18 hours before resuming service.
