The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 2.5 hours, then departed Narita and is estimated to reach Toronto with a delay of 2 hours.
Japan's Ministry of Transport reported runway 16R was closed for about 9 minutes as result of the occurrence.
On May 10th 2016 Canada's TSB reported that the inflight entertainment system (IFE) was turned off in flight after an acrid odour was noticed. The crew declared PAN and diverted to Tokyo's Narita Airport. Maintenance deactivated the IFE, IFE cooling fan and the left lower recirculation fan and released the aircraft according to minimum equipment list requirements.
