A Flydubai Boeing 737-800, registration A6-FDZ performing flight FZ-251 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Mashhad (Iran), was on approach to Mashhad when the flaps could not be extended beyond 5 degrees. The crew entered a hold to work the related checklists, extended the flaps further using the alternate flaps extension and performed a safe landing on Mashhad's runway 31R at a higher than normal speed (about 160 knots over ground).

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 5.5 hours, then departed for the return flight FZ-252 and is estimated to reach Dubai with a delay of 5:15 hours.
